This effort involved the redevelopment of an old pump house into a multi-use commercial and office complex.
The landscape treatment was intended to tie together the sprawling facility in a way that delights the eye while bringing special individual character to the various courtyards. All courts are linked by colorfully planted pedestrian passages.
The streetscape of the project is planted with a continuous band of Sycamore trees in wells filled with a variety of flowering perennials. The entire foundation wall perimeter is planted with Mexican Sage which is in continual bloom for eight months of the year. Parking lots, individual shop and office entryways have been planted to highlight the senses of fragrance, texture, and color on arrival and passage.
The project has been awarded by the Berkeley Architectural Heritage Association with special commendation for the garden.
