Kyla Burson has been invited to participate in a sustainable design forum held by the city of Emeryville on June 9th. She will offer the designer perspective on a panel that will also include engineers, a representative from EBMUD, and one from the Regional Water Board. Forum participants will visit several sites to see completed low impact strategies, including AgeSong, an elderly care facility Miller Company provided landscape plans for. Agesong's sustainable features include: an extensive green roof, flow-through planters, high albedo pavings, and structural soils.

"Olive View Psychiatric Urgent Care Center groundbreaking event
On March 17, Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich and Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky officially launched the construction of the new Psychiatric Urgent Care Center at the Olive View Medical Center with a groundbreaking event. The Center, anticipated to open in the summer of 2011, will feature artwork by Amy Trachtenberg and Jeffrey Miller of San Francisco. Trachtenberg and Miller worked closely with the design-build team to integrate several art elements including stone pavers, a hand-painted frieze, a hanging sculpture and fence detailing." - LA County Arts Commission

Winter 2010
Another public art collaboration between artist Amy Trachtenberg and Jeffrey Miller is coming to fruition. Construction begins this spring on the Olive View mental health facility in UCLA's medical center. Features of this project include hanging sculpture, a painted frieze, artist-designed stepping stones, and a vine entwined screen topped with a "sliver of light" - a multicolored, translucent mosaic of polycarbonate tiles.
