We have designed the rooftop
garden and play area for the new home of the Tenderloin Childcare Center. The
facility offers all-day care, three daily meals, connections to health care,
and support services for its low income and homeless residents.
The rooftop provides for active
and quiet contemplation, fresh air, and sunlight in a safe, supervised space.
Children make use of a variety of play spaces on the roof including a new sand
play area, a grass area with boulders for toddlers, a raised project and
performance deck, and an active climbing structure framed by olive trees in
raised rooftop planters. | |
