Case Adelante–1296 Shotwell is a newly constructed 9-story affordable senior housing building with 94 units co-developed by Chinatown CDC with Mission Economic Development Agency based in the Mission District. It is the first affordable housing to be built in the Mission in over a decade, and the first to utilize Senior Operating Subsidy (SOS) to house 40 households for seniors at or below 15% and 25% Area Median Income (AMI). It is the first multifamily affordable housing project in San Francisco to utilize Affordable Housing Bonus program, resulting in three additional floors including 33 more units, and it is the first in the nation for the building type to receive Gold Award from US Resiliency Council for its ability to withstand major seismic event without having to relocate the residents. The building features outdoor terrace spaces on various levels along with a secure outdoor patio in the rear for the seniors to grow their own vegetables or enjoy being outdoors.
