875 California Street stands atop San Francisco's Nob Hill at the intersection of Powell and California Streets—a storybook location at the crossing of the city's two historic cable car lines. The 7-story, 44-unit, 100,000-square-foot residential building steps back from the corner with a bold curving facade that cradles a landscaped entry garden, creating an intimate, welcoming approach for residents and their guests that is also a visual amenity for the neighborhood. To either side, the building holds the street wall above a horizontally striated granite base, stepping down the slope along both Powell and California Streets to meet adjacent buildings. The facades present a contemporary interpretation of the San Francisco tradition of tall bay windows that capture views up and down the streets. Inside, stairs from the marble and Venetian plaster lobby descend to a double-height trellised and mirrored conservatory that opens out to a private residents' garden at the rear. Rooftop gardens and private terraces toward the top of the building, and a set-back penthouse with a fluted cornice and cantilevered canopies at the crown, complete the composition.

The Secret Garden is quintessential California living. Shrubs, plants, perennials, and vines—including Japanese Maples, Foxtail Ferns, Climbing Roses, and Creeping Figs—all add to the enchantment and are specifically sourced to contribute to the native ecosystem.
