Leo is a Licensed Landscape Architect who brings six years of professional landscape and urban design experience to Miller Company. His design work has transformed multiple urban parks, playgrounds and gardens into valued community assets, often tied directly to local material, social and ecological histories. Leo is a positive force on large collaborative teams through complex design processes and is facile and experienced in all phases of project design, management and implementation. Born and Raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Leo has always held deep appreciation for the outsize impact that natural landscapes have on urban life.  His background as a craftsman builder influences his conceptual approach to landscape architecture at all scales with a keen attention to material aesthetics, maintenance and durability.  These sensibilities have also proven valuable on construction sites where Leo is a common presence, working fluently between Spanish and English to deliver a project at the highest level. Leo has a particular affinity for creating children’s play environments and has led such efforts at some of the country’s most ambitious destination playgrounds in his former job with Michael Van Valkenburg Associates Inc.
